JEAN PAUL GAULTIER’S OLFACTIVE SIGNATURE

When Jean-Paul Gaultier created his first perfume Classique, he wanted to infuse it with all his memories and desires. The fragrance needed to be original, provocative and irresistible. His sense of style came into play: the bottle would be adorned with one of his iconic pieces. To bring this ambitious project to life, the designer turned to Jacques Cavallier, one of the most renowned ‘Noses’. Together, they would concoct a fragrance as experiential as it is irresistible.

THE FRAGRANCES OF A LIFETIME

Classique was inspired by wonderful memories of a joyful childhood. Jean Paul’s muse was his beloved grandmother Marie, whose home was synonymous with flavors and freedom. Memories of makeup and cookies inspired the designer to create a powerful, intoxicating and irresistible fragrance. 3 adjectives that would become characteristic of all Gaultier perfumes. He infused it with all the textures and aromas of his delightful childhood: a bouquet of voluptuous, waxy white flowers, with a hint of the slightly chemical note of patented ylang-ylang, and a musky powdery base, and heavenly creamy vanilla. It’s a real burst of life. Jean Paul Gaultier continued to recount his delicious olfactive experience when creating the must-have Men’s fragrance, Le Male, a scent that is flat out irresistible. It conjures up vivid and exhilarating memories of shaving soap, the provocative charm of sage and captivating euphoric lavender.

MORE THAN AN OBSESSION, AN ADDICTION

Jean Paul Gaultier’s most iconic Fashion pieces were inspired by his obsession for certain items: corsets, Breton shirts, skirts for men, etc. The intention is the same whether designing fragrances or fashion... each creation is an obsession. LA BELLE MAKES AN APPEARANCE

In 2019, Jean Paul Gaultier adds a new chapter to his olfactive masterpiece, La Belle, a celebration of extraordinary women. La Belle is an ode to the delights of summer, explicit in its essence and bottle, which was directly inspired by the bust of Classique. Its captivating notes of vanilla and fresh bergamot invite us to fully connect with our senses and to savor the present. Once again, a key ingredient takes center stage: a pear, juicy and crunchy, sparking the desire to bite. With La Belle Le Parfum, the designer invites us to luxuriate on a bed of roses. For the male version, Le Beau, the scent of coconut tantalizes. Together, La Belle and Le Beau collections aim to transport us to the heights of pleasure.

With Classique, Jean-Paul Gaultier launched a collection of iconic fragrances, with instantly recognizable signature scents. These alluring essences feature intensely heightened, almost overwhelming, notes, that cannot be ignored. The iconic and sexy bottles celebrate women from head to toe. Bold irreverence is embodied in every essence, every bottle, making every detail an event, right down to the famous tins and revolutionary advertising.

The designer has poured all his expertise, creativity and history into each of his fragrances.
