For Jean Paul Gaultier, the Day of the Dead is an extraordinary tradition. This joyous celebration of life honours the memory of those who are no longer with us. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful skulls he discovered on his travels to Mexico, the fashion legend respectfully created a skull design that was brought to life by Mexican artists.
The art features a blend of Mexican culture and the brand's signature style. Mexico has been a source of inspiration for Jean Paul Gaultier throughout his career. The fashion designer has always been drawn to its wide array of colours, cultural flare, artisanal traditions, museums, and artists, including Frida Kahlo.
His love for the country led him to create an exhibition about the Day of the Dead, which was produced in collaboration with and under the supervision of Mexico City's Anahuacalli Museum.
