Snow White gets a makeover!
Everyone knows that the dancers in Angelin Preljocaj's Snow White are impressive and flawless, but part of the show's international acclaim is also due to the fact that the stage costumes come straight out of Jean Paul Gaultier's imagination. Knowing the designer, it's no surprise to see that the fairy tale's characters have been given a new twist. Snow White is as pure as ever with her virginal white draped costume, in stark contrast to the Queen who wears a stunning black and red costume that hints at S&M. The other characters are dressed in hooped or crinoline designs, whilst the 7 dwarfs are more like acrobatic pilots than mischief-makers. As for the Prince, he sports a charmingly virile yet sensitive matador outfit.
Take a chance to (re)discover Preljocaj's fabulous ballet when it returns to Europe for several dates (see the full programme here). Don't miss the company's stop at the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London in May!
